Along with Senza Sordino, Orchestra-L, the Internet and telephone communications, the ICSOM Bulletin is one of our major communication links and is designed to contain current information about negotiations, settlements, announcements from the Chairperson or President, important trends or events related to the symphonic field, as well as other ICSOM business.
Contract settlements should be reported to the Secretary as soon as possible, even if the delegate is not prepared to submit the information necessary for the Settlement Bulletin. The Delegate Manual includes a SETTLEMENT BULLETIN FORM on the following page that covers the most common information found in a Settlement Bulletin. Remember settlement information is critical to other orchestras’ negotiations, so we need to know about your orchestra’s settlement as soon as possible. It is also the source of information for other organizations who need updates on orchestra salaries and benefits.
The accuracy of the settlement information you provide is most important. Show the completed SETTLEMENT BULLETIN FORM to the negotiating committee (and, if possible, to your orchestra’s negotiating attorney) before forwarding the information to the Secretary. You can fax the completed form to the Secretary at 615/259-9140 or e-mail the information to her at lar2vln@comcast.net. The bulletin form is posted on the ICSOM website or the bulletin can be e-mailed.
One copy of the bulletin is sent to each orchestra on colored paper that should be posted on your orchestra’s bulletin board.
A request for a bulletin cannot be processed without the knowledge and permission of the Chairperson or President of ICSOM. Bulletins, such as those requesting financial support or requests for letters of support from other orchestras, must come through the Chairperson or President. If you are not sure how to request a bulletin or report a situation, please contact the Secretary or your orchestra’s Member at Large.
