MUSIC DIRECTOR EIJI OUE TAKES TO THE SKIES WEDNESDAY, MAY 1, FOR DAY-LONG WHIRLWIND TOUR OF GREATER MINNESOTA

From the fertile farmlands of Fargo/Moorhead to the port cities of Duluth/Superior, Minnesota Orchestra Music Director Eiji Oue takes to the skies on Wednesday, May 1, bringing his distinctive campaign for classical music to Greater Minnesota.

This whirlwind tour--dubbed "The Eiji Express"-will take Minnesota's newest maestro across Northern Minnesota from the borders of North Dakota to Wisconsin. He will visit a Moorhead public elementary classroom, Concordia College in Moorhead and the College of Saint Scholastica in Duluth. He will deliver his first-ever recordings-to be released that same day by Reference Recordings-to regional library systems. (The two CDs, titled "Stravinsky" and "Exotic Dances from the Opera," were recorded by the Minnesota Orchestra in January.) Oue will also promote the Minnesota Orchestra's weekly live broadcasts, heard on Minnesota Public Radio throughout a five-state region every Friday night-and on nearly 160 stations throughout the United States.
