Kansas City Symphony
New Labor Agreement
from the management of the Kansas City Symphony:
The musicians have ratified and the Board of the Kansas City Symphony has
approved a new agreement with the musicians for the 1996-97 and 1997-98
seasons. Base compensation will increase by 3% in the first year with compensation
for the second year to be discussed in spring, 1997. A joint committee
of musicians and management will be established this coming August to examine
the implementation of "flexible use of services". The outcome
of this committee's work will be discussed in the spring of 1997 as well.
The musicians achieved meaningful advances in a number of areas relating
to artistic governance and policies.
