New York City Ballet Orchestra

The members of the New York City Ballet Orchestra ratified a new three year contract on November 26, 1996.

WAGES : [Were $1200/wk] $1250; $1300; $1350

REHEARSALS : [Were $36/hr] $38; $40; $42
4th rehearsal in a week paid at time and a half.

PENSION : [Was 12% AFM-EP on all earnings] 12%; 12%; 12.5%

CATASTROPHE INSURANCE : Coverage increased to $1,000,000 lifetime

POST RETIREMENT HEALTH COVERAGE : Management will act as a conduit for continued coverage in Local 802 Plan A . Musician self pays.

RETIREMENT BONUS : [Was $5,000 for 20 - 24 years of service; $10,000 for 25 or more years of service]

An additional retirement bonus of $25,000 will be offered on a first come first served basis to the first ten musicians deciding to retire with 30 or more years of service during the first 18 months of the contract. [Cap of $250,000]

ROTATION PLAYERS : Rotation player status will be maintained for two named rotation players by performing 50% of the work offered due to a reduction in available work.

LOUNGE & ORCHESTRA CHAIRS : A committee will be formed within 60 days to investigate and purchase new chairs.

The members of the New York City Ballet Orchestra Negotiating Committee were Laurance Fader [Chair], Jane Cochran, Joyce Flissler, Andrew Lolya, and Michael Martin. The members of the orchestra would like to thank their attorney, Sheldon Engelhard, Local 802 President William Moriarity, Vice President Mary Landolfi and attorney Leonard Leibowitz.
