On June 5, 2009, the musicians of the New York City Opera Orchestra ratified a 2-year agreement that runs from June 1, 2009 and continues through May 31, 2011. The orchestra accepted a reduction in the number of guaranteed weeks for the duration of the contract, which hopefully will enable the NYCO to get on a more secure financial footing.

INSURANCE:
Health – [was Local 802 Health Benefit Plan] Becomes: NYCO management plan, choice of three. While there is no premium charge for the individual policy, dependent coverage co-pay will be $125 per month. This plan is at a lower rate than the Local 802 plan for both member and dependent coverage.
Dental – [New] Now offered for an additional payment
MISCELLANEOUS: For the duration of this agreement, the NYCO will be permitted to maintain a maximum of 10 vacancies in the orchestra size of 69 players.
