Rochester Ratifies 1-Year Amendment to Current Agreement

On December 19, 2009, the musicians of the Rochester Philharmonic ratified an amendment to the three-year agreement that began September 1, 2008 and continues through August 31, 2011. Following a deficit of $780,000 during the 2008-09 season, the first of the three year contract, concessionary adjustments were made to the 2009-10 season only. The current season, 2009-10, has been reduced by two weeks – one work week and one vacation week. The scheduled increase of $42.75 to the weekly salary that was to take place mid season has been reduced to a $30 increase. Contributions to the orchestra's private pension plan have been suspended from November 1, 2009, and continuing through the end of the current season. The amendment applies only to the 2009-10 season and no charges were made to the final season, 2010-11, of the current agreement.
