Dan Sweeley, Treasurer

A native of Lansing, Michigan, Dan has been a member of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra horn section since 2000. Prior to that he was a member of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra from 1995-2000. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1991 with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education and Horn Performance. In 1994 he graduated from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music with a Master's degree in Horn Performance. His primary teachers included Louis Stout, Michael Hatfield, and Randy Gardner.

Dan has been very active in union associated positions throughout his professional career with both the AFM and ICSOM, as well as within the orchestra. He has held teaching positions at multiple universities and colleges in the Buffalo area and has taught privately for much of his time in Buffalo. He has performed in many additional orchestras including Cincinnati, Jacksonville, Louisville, Syracuse, and Toronto.

He is a lifelong fan of the Detroit Tigers and University of Michigan athletics. He enjoys reading, photography, and travel.
